Phil Downing, Head of Environmental Research at Ipsos MORI, discusses new survey data at this joint event with the Resource Recovery Fund. This one-day event looks at the different attitudes towards the fortnightly collection of residual waste, including:
- Residents' practical experiences of fortnightly collections
- What residents really believe about necessary service provision
- How can fortnightly schemes work well, and when do problems arise - is separate collection of food waste and enhanced recycling services a pre-requisite to fortnightly collections
- How local authorities can engage with their residents
The event will hear from experts in the field as well as case studies from local authorities, including both those with fortnightly schemes in operation and those who have decided against AWC. There will be opportunities to discuss all relevant issues, meet with policy makers, practitioners and advisers to discuss the merits and potential pitfalls of going down the path of fortnightly waste collection.
