Evaluation of the Sex Offenders Community Notification pilot (2009)
The Scottish Government has recently commissioned Ipsos MORI Scotland to undertake an evaluation of the Sex Offender Notification pilot in the Tayside police force area. The Sex Offender Community Notification Pilot aims to provide a formal route for parents, carers and legal guardians to directly raise child protection concerns and request information about individuals who might present a concern to their family life. The study is a mixed method evaluation involving interviews with parents, carers and legal guardians who have made an application for disclosure, practitioners involved with the disclosure process and registered sex offenders in the Tayside area. The research team will also collect relevant monitoring data and use existing systems to monitor the number and movement of sex offenders.
