National Qualifications Consultation
Ipsos MORI Scotland was commissioned to undertake a programme of research to support the Scottish Government’s consultation on the future of National Qualifications. The research comprised an analysis of over 1,800 consultation responses and deliberative research among key stakeholders, including: pupils, parents, teachers, college lecturers and employers. The final report synthesises the findings from both strands of the research and highlights the key themes that emerged in response to the Government’s proposals.
Ipsos MORI Scotland analysed over 1,800 responses to the consultation using a purpose-built Excel spreadsheet and code frame. The deliberative research took place between August and October 2008 and details are as follows: 4 reconvened focus groups with parents, 12 depth interviews with employers, 14 focus groups with pupils, 8 focus groups with teachers, 7 depth interviews with head teachers, 1 focus group with college students and 2 focus groups with college lecturers.
