Annual Personal Finance Journalist Survey

Each year in March Ipsos MORI Financial Services interviews Britain's leading personal finance journalists to ask their opinions on around 55 financial organisations including banks, building societies, insurance companies, investment companies, credit card issuers and other major suppliers. The survey also measures the main financial industry bodies.

Our Personal Finance Journalists survey has been running since 1990. It measures how well journalists know companies, their favourability towards each, and the strengths, weaknesses and effectiveness of their press departments. Better than this, it helps to explain exactly why each journalist feels the way he or she does.

This syndicated survey also measures many other topics such as overall and individual product quality, product promotion and a range of image dimensions.

All interviews are conducted face-to-face at a convenient location for the journalists (usually their own office). They are interviewed by Ipsos MORI's specially trained interviewers who have worked on this and similar projects in the past.

All verbatim comments are recorded. This ensures that all comments that journalists have to make about individual companies are captured in full, and shown in our individually tailored reports. In many cases the journalists are willing to be attributed, making this survey an invaluable combination of quantitative and qualitative research.
