Ipsos MORI's Take…
Although Ipsos MORI is generally viewed as a traditional research agency, a great deal of our work involves deliberative and participative events.
Participative research is no better or worse than traditional research — it is different. It aims to arrive at shared solutions and to empower participants.
What Is Ipsos MORI's Take?
We advocate using a mixture of methods to solving client problems, including participative, qualitative and quantitative work as appropriate. Our approach is always tailored to the individual needs of our clients, recognising that not all will want or need the same solutions.
We recognise that participative research can be variable in the quality of both the processes used and the outputs produced. As such, we are running an industry-wide debate about the application of these techniques to ensure that everyone operates within the same guidelines and adheres to similar ethical principles.
What is the Ipsos MORI Participation Unit?
Ipsos MORI understands the importance of involving the public in a meaningful and constructive way. Indeed, this ethos of enabling organisations to empower and meaningfully engage people in decision-making underpins our Participation Unit. This is an exciting initiative which involves a team of researchers developing and progressing the application and effectiveness of these approaches.
